Light steel keel has the following advantages:

1. **Lightweight**: Made from lightweight steel, it weighs only 3-4 kg/㎡. When used with 9 mm thick plasterboard for ceiling installation, its self-weight is only a quarter of the weight of a plastered ceiling. Partitions made with it are also relatively light, such as a 5 kg/㎡ partition, which is only 1/10 the weight of a half-brick wall, facilitating transportation and construction.

2. **Excellent Fire Resistance**: Typically composed of 2-4 layers of plasterboard, it can achieve a fire resistance rating of 1.0-1.6 hours.

3. **High Construction Efficiency**: Assemble-style construction methods can be used, allowing for faster construction speeds, with professional workers typically able to complete 3-4 meters of partition in a day.

4. **Structurally Safe and Reliable**: Characterized by high strength and rigidity, the structures made, such as ceilings or partitions, are stable and can meet high safety requirements. For instance, a partition keel of a certain specification can withstand a maximum deflection under a uniformly distributed load of 250 N/m² without exceeding the standard requirement of not more than 1/20 of its height.

5. **Good Impact Resistance**: When combined with 9-18 mm thick paper-faced plasterboard, its longitudinal breaking load can reach 390-850 N.

6. **Good Seismic Performance**: Generally fixed with movable connectors such as nails, core extraction rivets, and self-tapping screws, under seismic shear forces, the partition will only experience support sliding, with the light steel keel and the surface layer experiencing minimal force, making it less likely to be damaged.

7. **Enhanced Insulation, Soundproofing, and Indoor Space Utilization**: Partitions take up little space but offer good thermal insulation. Filling the light steel keel with insulation materials can enhance this effect and improve the utilization of indoor space. For example, a partition made with Q75 light steel keel and two layers of 12 mm plasterboard, only 99 mm wide, has far superior insulation performance compared to a brick wall; with rock wool insulation, it can match the thermal performance of a 37 mm thick brick wall. Commonly used in entertainment venues, meeting rooms, offices, etc., for partition or ceiling construction, effectively solving soundproofing and insulation issues.

8. **High Resource Efficiency**: Made from high-strength cold-rolled steel, it is lighter than traditional building materials while ensuring material strength, which means reduced energy consumption in production and transportation, and a lower carbon footprint. Additionally, the manufacturing process typically involves precise engineering to minimize material waste.

9. **Strong Corrosion Resistance from Galvanizing**: The galvanizing process increases its corrosion resistance, eliminating the need for frequent maintenance and replacement throughout the building's lifespan, reducing material waste and resource consumption.

10. **Good Recyclability**: As a recyclable building material, it can be recovered and reused after the building's lifespan, helping to reduce the generation of construction waste and easing pressure on landfills.

11. **Energy Saving**: Its lightweight nature makes it easier to transport and install, reducing the time and energy required for construction. It can also be combined with modern energy-saving technologies to further reduce a building's energy consumption.

12. **Versatility**: Suitable for various building decorations such as ceilings and partitions, and can also be used for the renovation of old buildings.

13. **Adaptability**: Can adapt to different environments and locations, performing well in both humid and dry areas. In humid areas, its corrosion resistance and moisture-proof properties are advantageous, while in dry areas like the north, it can meet the basic needs of buildings.

14. **High Stability**: The material is stable, not prone to deformation or aging, maintaining its performance and appearance over the long term.

15. **Smooth Appearance with Clear Edges**: The aesthetically pleasing appearance contributes to the overall effect of indoor decoration.

16. **Facilitates Electrical Pipe Laying**: The internal cavity facilitates the laying of electrical pipes, making the arrangement neater and more standardized.

17. **Durability**: It has good durability, ensuring long-term use of the building and reducing the need for frequent maintenance and repair, which in turn reduces the consumption of resources and energy.

18. **Multifunctionality**: Not only can it be used for ceilings and partitions, but it can also provide certain functions such as seismic resistance, dust prevention, sound insulation, and sound absorption for buildings.

However, light steel keel also has some limitations. It requires a certain amount of overhead space, typically at least 100-150 mm in height; the design is relatively simple and can only be made into straight lines, not suitable for special shapes; its price is relatively higher compared to traditional wooden keels, and the quality can be inconsistent. When purchasing, it is important to choose carefully. In practical applications, one should consider the advantages and disadvantages according to specific needs and situations and select the appropriate keel material.
